Cameron Highlands: It’s all about flowers, butterflies, strawberries and vegetables

If you are a nature lover, then you will definitely love Cameron Highlands. Besides tea farm, Cameron Highlands do have more to offer to the tourists. Because of its cold weather, you can find many other kinds of flowers and plants which are rare in the cities.

Whenever I visited Cameron Highlands during holidays, I can see many city folks looking at those weird but beautiful flowers and went “uuu… ahhh…”

It was funny to see that kind of face but I when I think back the moment when I first set foot in Cameron Highlands, I had that kind of face as well.

Cameron Highlands is a very peaceful place to be in, in fact, I even thought of moving there after I retired. Many retired Japanese chose to stay in Cameron Highlands under the Malaysia My Second Home program by the government so when you walk around in town you can spot a lot of Japanese.

There are many tourists destinations in Cameron Highlands but most of them are basically the same. Almost all the tourists spots are full of flowers, strawberries and vegetables. Although it’s almost the same, but you can find it relaxing and interesting to see those beautiful things in a cooler environment.

Maybe the flowers there were planted by professionals, or I never see beautiful flowers in my entire life, when I went there I couldn’t stop myself from taking photos of those beautiful plants.

The flowers there were so perfect and beautiful, at one point I even thought they were fake flowers from China.

But too bad some of the plants were attacked by some inconsiderate humans. Vandalism on plants, only in Malaysia.

Cameron Highlands is also the home for many species of butterflies. In Butterfly Farm, you can find many species of butterflies flying around you.

Sometimes some tame butterflies will stop on your shoulders or on your hands.

A strawberry farm

Strawberry farm is also one of the reasons why people come to Cameron Highlands. The weather there is very suitable to grow strawberries so everywhere you go you can find strawberries, or some other things related to strawberries…

Strawberry bags, strawberry clothes, strawberry shoes, strawberry pillows... you name it.

Cameron Highlands is a nice place if you want to get off the work or study pressure. The average temperature there is on a rise due to the world climate change, the vast commercializing of tea, strawberries and vegetables business also add up to the heat. I hope that our beloved government can do something about it. And for us tiny little citizens, go there and enjoy the cool breeze before all the developments begin.

RM2.70

I think this is the number that made almost every Malaysians crazy on 4th June 2008 night. Our beloved Malaysian government decided that it was time to make the people suffer even more by decreasing the subsidies on petrol prices, this made our petrol price increased from RM1.92 to RM2.70, a shocking 40% increase.

40%, damn it. I roughly calculated how much this will costs me if I pump in full tank for my car. Before the price increase I already had to spend RM75 for a full tank, now I have to spend almost RM100 for a full tank. Wtf…

Thinking about this I become very tulan already. Malaysia got so many oil resources and yet we have to pay so much for the damn fuel. Really Malaysia Boleh.

Pak Lah announced that the price change will be starting on 12am 5th June 2008, this last minute announcement made everyone kelam-kabut. Everyone rushed to the petrol station before 12am just to fill in cheap petrol one last time. Suddenly it was good business for every petrol station throughout Malaysia.

For me I already filled up 2 days before and I just drove for 50km, so I figured that it won’t be economical for me to line up for 2 hours just to fill up.

But the craze to buy cheap petrol still made me ended up in a massive traffic jam. There were traffic jams wherever there are petrol stations nearby. I had a hard time finding a place to have dinner so out of no choice I went to Tesco to eat KFC.

The next day at office, everyone was talking about the damn petrol price. Sentences like: “Wah the petrol price increased again.”, “Mahal-lah”, “next time I want to walk to office liao.” And last but not least “diu…”, can be heard everywhere.

See how just a simple order from Pak Lah can affect our lifestyles. Pak Lah, I beg you lah, next time please give us some good news. Zero tax on all imported cars maybe?

After complaining so much about the increase of petrol price, I suddenly felt so scared because I am afraid that the government may sue me. So I want to clarify here that the government of Malaysia is the best in the world and they increased the price so that they can use the subsidies saved to help the poor.

The government said that the petrol price will be revised every month, which means the price will still have the possibility to increase in the future. To all of you out there, enjoy your chance now for the “cheap” petrol price before it’s too late.

A young and pretty female doctor is very popular among all the male patients in the hospital.

She's still single so many rich and handsome guys always trying to date her.

And of course she also faced a lot of sexual harassment from the patients.

One day Mr. Tan went to see the female doctor to do a complete medical checkup.

After all the normal checkup procedures, the female doctor gave Mr. Tan a small bottle and asked him to collect his sperm sample and bring back the next day to check the health of his sperm.

The next day Mr. Tan came back with an empty bottle.

The female doctor asked: "Why is the bottle still empty?"

Mr. Tan explained: "Last night I tried it with my right hand, but nothing happen. So I tried again with my left hand, still nothing. So I asked my wife to help me, she tried it with both hands, also failed. Then I asked her to try using her mouth, still nothing happen."

The female doctor is already blushed at this moment.

Mr. Tan then continue: "A minute later my cousin sister came and visit us. So I asked for her favor since she is young and energetic. She tried with both her hands, then with her mouth, she tried very hard you know..."

"Stop! Stop!" The female doctor can't hold on any more, She said: "You asked your cousin sister to help you with this kind of thing?!"

Mr. Tan said: "Yeah, she was very helpful, but still cannot! So I come here to find you, to see whether you can..."

The female doctor was furious and asked: What do you want me to do?!!!"

Mr. Tan slowly answered: "To help me open the cap of this damn little bottle."

My final year project

My final year project in UNITEN was different from other universities. Other universities’ students have to write millions of pages of boring thesis or project papers to pass their final year project, but as UNITEN is the best university in the whole world *cough*, we accounting final year students were required to organize a symposium and a graduation dinner for our final year project.

The symposium is actually an event where we invited some accountants as speakers to give talks about issues and challenges of financial reporting in the accounting industries. For this reason, we named the symposium the Financial Reporting Symposium, who said we accountants aren’t “creative” at all? (It’s a lame name, I know.)

The speakers we invited are big shots in the accounting industries, all holding high posts in big organizations and professional bodies. On that day all the UNITEN guards suddenly became very “hardworking” and stationed themselves at the entrance, maybe to protect the speakers from terrorists’ attacks or US missiles.

The symposium was held from 8am to 5pm where 4 speakers shared their views on the topics set. Topics included were difference between fair value accounting and historical cost… … blah blah blah… … Zzzzzz…

I know you will get bored if I tell you all the accounting topics during the symposium so I’ll skip this part. *Yawn*

Every student has their own job description on organizing the symposium. I am under the sponsorship committee where I have to beg people for money to sponsor the symposium. My job of collecting sponsors for the symposium was done so the committee asked me to help out the registration counter. As a helpful and caring person *cough*, I decided to help my friends at the counter.

Full house

The registration counter was very busy during the morning when hundreds of students and invited guests checked in just before the symposium started. To be honest I didn’t help much during that time as the counter was packed and I can’t even find a place to sit. I just helped to pass the goodies bags to the students and guests.

After the symposium started, we at the registration counter got nothing to do so we just hang out there because all the seats in the auditorium were occupied. At first we thought of listening to the speakers from outside but it was unclear, so we ended up fooling around at the counter. We chit chatted, took photos, and when we were tired, we went upstairs to the VIP lounge to take a power nap.

We were so tired because we were busy packing up all the goodies bags the previous night. We worked until midnight and had to wake up at 7am. So, to all the speakers who saw us sleeping upstairs, we felt guilty and we are sorry.

When the symposium ended at 5pm and before we packed up, we took time to take some photos.

After the photo session ended, we went through some of the suggestion leaflets collected by the committee members. We were pretty nervous about the comments as they may affect the points for our final year project. Luckily most of the students and guests “give face” to us and wrote something good about the symposium.

Suddenly we found one comment and burst into laughter.

That wu liao person wrote: “Kanina Amy Lourdusamy (AC077455) farted all along the ceremony and made the day like hell.”

What a constructive comment.

Hereby I represent all the symposium committee members to apologize to that person because we weren’t able to contain her fart effectively.
