Nuffnang Wild ‘Live’ Blogging Party

I am surprised when I received an e-mail from Nuffnang informing that I am invited to the Wild ‘Live’ Blogging Party at Modesto’s Desa Sri Hartamas on the 21st of June.

When I first knew about the party and what I had to do to get into the party, I wanted to try how lucky I am so I just cin-cai chose one of the animal photos I got in my computer. I posted the entry and waited for good news.

The notification e-mail came in and I was kind of happy and worried for being invited. Happy because I can go to a free and fun party. Worried because I joined Nuffnang for only 2 months and I don’t know anyone of the bloggers who were invited. After a minute of hesitation, I made up my mind and decided to go and check it out.

This is why I love Nuffnang so much

To be honest, the map Nuffnang provided me was too simple for a non-KL person like me. I don’t want to be late so I departed earlier so that I can have some spare time just in case I get lost and go all the way to Holland.

Luckily I managed to get to the venue without getting lost thanks to my colleagues who drew me a detailed map of Desa Sri Hartamas.

I reached there early and I started to worry that I might end up like a loner throughout the whole party. I don’t know a single person there.

My worries ended soon after the party started at 6pm. All the bloggers at the party were very friendly, I managed to make some new friends there. Some bloggers even made jokes or took photos with me even though I never met them before, so I ended up having fun with a whole bunch of people without knowing their names. You see, bloggers are fun people, just like auditors. *ahem…*

Bloggers blogged away during the party using the wireless broadband

The official sponsor of this party is Maxis Broadband. They set up some laptops and wireless broadband connection for bloggers to blog during the party. They even sent two cars with extraordinarily large speakers to give the party the extra ummph.

The theme of this party was animal in conjunction with the ‘Wild’ themed Maxis Broadband USB modem. So to bring out the animal of all the bloggers, the dress code was also animal theme.

Some bloggers went to great length to dress like animal as there will be two Dell laptops given away for the best dressed King & Queen of the jungle.

For me, I don’t have the time to search for animal costumes so I decided to dress cin-cai-ly. My
entry that helped me to get into the party was a crocodile so I wanted to dress as close as I can be to a crocodile.

Here’s my costume for the night:

A crocodile t-shirt.

And Croc shoes.

Lousy costumes, I know.

Emcee Liang

Before we can eat, the emcee who dressed like a tiger played a game with the crowd. The rules were simple enough for animals to understand, when the emcee shout out a kind of an animal, the fastest person who dressed like the particular animal rush up to the stage and hug him is the winner.

At that moment how I wish I can become the emcee. Because when he shouted ladybird, butterfly or rabbit, there were pretty dressed up female bloggers rushed up to the stage and gave him a hug.

But when he shouted king kong, I quickly changed my wish. There were 4 male bloggers dressed up as king kong came up and hugged him. Hugging with 4 male king kongs was definitely not what the emcee wanted, but he made the party laughed non-stop.

They served food after the game, it was a buffet. When I saw the food I am glad that Nuffnang chose Modesto’s as the venue. The food was delicious. It’s the first time I’ve been to Modesto’s and I’ve made up my mind that I will have a second visit for the food soon.

After everyone was filled up with nice Italian food, the emcee again threw out some games to the crowd.

All the games played were very simple games, but all the bloggers in the party were very hyperactive in playing those games, I guess the games really brought out the animal instinct of everyone.

In one of the games where the group with the loudest shout wins was really fun, every group shouted like hell but only one group managed to win. The group won because they all surrounded the judge and shouted into his ears, so the judge had to let them win before they do any further damage to his eardrums.

Poor Tim

The party was basically a prize giveaway party. Nuffnang and Maxis joined forces to give lots of prizes to bloggers.

I nearly won in the Oddest Place for and Animal Posts category, my blog entry was a man sitting on a crocodile, but I lost to an entry where blogger Shad posted photos of his pet porcupine and Malay Tapir. Although it’s a 50/50 chance for me to win but Shad’s entry really blew me away, how often do you see a Malay Tapir in a house?

The finalists of Jungle King & Queen

The party ended with an old-fashion session where Nuffnang announced the winner of the Jungle King & Queen. 3 Kings and 3 Queens were selected as finalists of the competition, but in order to chose 1 King and 1 Queen, all of them must dance in front of the crowd and the judges will determine the winners.

Tocklet the cow and the lion queen impressed the judges and the crowd with their dance moves and won their titles. The lion queen danced sexily and won the heart of all the male bloggers whereas Tocklet the cow danced funnily when he asked the crowd to grab or squeeze his “big fake tits”.

At around 11pm the party ended with a prize giving ceremony and speech from the co-founder of Nuffnang. Then some people headed off home with a big smile on their face, the rest who were still not having enough of the party danced on the dance floor or social around by taking photos and exchanging blogs address.

The party was fantastic. I would like to take part in this kind of event again if I have the chance. Bloggers should come out and meet or have fun together rather than facing the monitor screen all the time, I think Nuffnang will agree with me. So I am looking forward for Nuffnang to organize more events or outing for bloggers.
