Tasik Biru

Tasik Biru (Blue Lake) is one of the favorite “tourist destination” for UNITEN Muadzam Shah students. Situated at Bukit Ibam, it is only 15 minutes drive away from Muadzam Shah.

Bukit Ibam is a very small town, it’s even smaller than Muadzam Shah. The town is still “alive” only because there are several factories and quarries there. One of the Malaysian Air Force Army base is near there as well, so UNITEN students are quite “lucky” because they can see multi millions fighter jets flying up on their head quite often.

Tasik Biru got its name because the water is very blue, it is so blue that as if somebody poured blue water color in it.

See the difference between a normal lake color and color of Tasik Biru?

I found this place special because you don’t get to see this kind of lake every time. Some people said that the lake is blue because of some kind of water plants growing in the lake. Some people also said that it is because of constant dumping of chemical wastes into the lake by the factories and quarries nearby.

I studied accounts and have zero knowledge in lakes. I am still looking for answers regarding the color of the lake.

So what do you think? Natural or man-made?

Leong, Tasik Biru was actually an iron ore mine. The mine was dated back as far as...uh...I don't remember this but i'll find that out if you're not bored by history. But, there use to be a railroad from Bukit Ibam all the way to Kuala Rompin (Kg. Lanjut to be exact). That's why the water is so blue, people thought it's unnatural. ;)

Actually i am quite interested in why the lake is so blue, but there wasn't any signboard around there to explain. There was a railroad? That's interesting...

Nice to found Tasik Biru on your blog...Kudos..

Yes, there used to a railroad from Bukit Ibam to Rompin. My father confirmed this story. The main function is to transport iron ores and stone/gravel from the mining area around B.Ibam to the port in Rompin (Old Rompin near Kg. Lanjut). The railroad was abandoned since the ores supply has exhausted. The railroad was also broken due development project in the area between these two town. If you had a chance, you may go to Rompin to watch the train head displayed, if I not mistaken, somewhere at the town area/gov. offices. The head was preserved for today's generation and as a commemoration of its role for driving Rompin's economy during the early days. Bdw - I heard the train is haunted. The folklore says the train will run by itself out of the blue during night, with their lights on and engine roaring...uuu spooky =)

Peace out =)
